The main navigable hole of the bridge is composed of two 105m2 artificial islands and 6.7km immersed tube tunnel, namely the island tunnel project, which is the control project of the hong kong-zhuhai-macao bridge. In order to ensure the construction period, the technology of rapid island formation of large diameter deep inserted steel cylinder is developed. The steel cylinder, with a diameter of 22m, an average height of 50m and a weight of about 500t, is manufactured in Shanghai and transported by 70,000-90000t ocean liner. In order to ensure its stability, it needs to be integrated into the bearing layer; In order to realize this technology, the design method of large diameter deep inserted steel cylinder was developed and the hitability analysis was carried out. In order to realize the preloading of large surcharge ratio, the integral arc steel plate was innovated to form the watertight island wall structure together with the steel cylinder, and the improvement of foundation consolidation was completed in only 100 days. The plan reduces dredging by 3 106m3, cancels the construction of underground diaphragm wall of more than 1000 meters and the pile foundation of all structures on the island, and the construction period of the two artificial islands is 7 months, two years ahead of the original plan.


There are 33 immersed pipe joints in the tunnel. The standard pipe joints are 180m long, 38m wide, 11.4m high and weigh 76000t. Its foundation construction is a difficult problem, because 5.664km of continuous construction should be carried out in the backfill environment. All pipe joints are located on the longitudinal slope of 0~3%. The deepest water depth for foundation construction is 50m. The area of the bottom of standard pipe joints is 8000m2. For this project, nearly 3 billion yuan has been invested for special equipment, and deep-water measurement and control technology, fine dredging technology, removal and silt control technology, and deep-water foundation bed construction technology have been developed. As for the prefabrication of immersed pipe joints, 1 billion yuan has been invested to build the largest submerged pipe prefabrication plant. The prefabrication method of curved submerged pipe joints is the first of its kind, and nearly one million cubic meters of concrete has been self-waterproof and crack control. In this project, 33 immersed pipe joints were installed continuously and safely. In the process, the towing technology of large volume pipe joints in the offshore environment and restricted channel, the installation technology in deep water and deep channel were developed, the unmanned submersible system in deep water was developed, and the underwater installation method of adjustable pipe joints was summarized. In addition, the new structure concept of "semi-rigid pipe joint" immersed tube tunnel was developed to increase the robustness of immersed tube longitudinal structure and solve the problem of high overburden load caused by deep burial. The new foundation concept of "combined foundation bed" immersed tube tunnel is innovated, and the settlement and differential settlement of the immersed tube tunnel foundation are controlled at a good level. Innovative and active water-stopping integral final joint technique, breakthrough in underwater closure problem of immersed tube tunnel; Based on the cable test, the invention of "memory bearing" can reduce the risk of cracking or damage of the joint part of the immersed tube tunnel due to differential settlement.


After super typhoon haiyan hit the south Pacific in 2013, in view of the development trend of severe weather, the project disaster prevention standard evaluation and research were carried out, and the project disaster prevention design was optimized, comprehensively improving the project disaster prevention ability. During the construction period, the project successfully withstood the test of the frontal attack of the powerful typhoon "sky pigeon".
